No polystyrene cup of tea for me ♻️ At the amazing @opendoorsuk celebration day, what utterly astounding work being done globally for the persecuted church in the name of Jesus Christ 📖 lesswastelauraCut out more crappy Christmas plastic by making your own Christmas crackers! 🎉
Step 1: Take your wrapping paper (brown parcel or tissue paper is best - recyclable! ♻️), a snap, and the cardboard tubes (3 toilet rolls or a kitchen roll cut into 3). Add glue to the end of the paper and then roll up tightly 🎄 Step 2: tie a ribbon/string to close the paper between the first and second cardboard rolls! (Your snap should be running through the middle)🎅🏼 Step 3: Fill with prizes and toys and candies, don’t forget the paper crowns (try and make it plastic free! What about a baked good, seeds, small candle etc)🎁 Step 4: After the tube is filled with prizes take away the first cardboard tube 🧬 Step 5: tie the other side to close up the prize tub, and remove the other end cardboard tub (there should only be one tube in the middle! 🎀 Step 6: Once the cracker is made be sure and glue the brown snaps securely into each side of the cracker 💥 Step 7: Serve on dinner plates, guests must grasp each side and pull to tear open. Wear the paper crowns while eating! 🎄💥♻️ Another simple step to avoid useless waste this Christmas! This uses up your old toilet roll cardboard tubes, which letting you get create with the design and personal with the gifts 🍬🍭 If you don’t think you want to make them from scratch - you can even find kits to make your own! Swipe to see the types you find, and all you need to get is the gifts for the middle! Still cutting out a lot of plastic waste! 🌿 lesswastelauraJoin the @lesswastewarriors today! I usually by the real Christmas story ones from Tearfund, as they are fair trade ect ect and the three kids like to have one each, but I’m trying to persuade them into sharing a reusable one....might be more fight than it’s worth?! freshgreenclean18@freshgreenclean18 I mean, The Real Advent Calendar by Traidcraft Loch Etchachan
Needing an escape to this seclusion... megg0.my.egg0What kind of tent? lesswastelaura@megg0.my.egg0 @vango_outdoor 🙌🏻🌱 turtley_ecoThis looks gorgeous! This year - think about your Christmas tree 🎄 .
Caring Christmas Trees are freshly-cut, grade 1 standard Nordman Firs, grown in Scotland in managed, sustainable tree farms 🎄 These trees are grown especially to be future Christmas trees 🎄 They don’t just go into the forest and chop down trees willy-nilly – their trees are grown as crops so once they are harvested more are replanted, which helps to manage our countryside and green spaces 🎄 Caring Christmas Trees are great for the environment, they produce oxygen when they are growing and when recycled after Christmas via a kerbside collection or at your local recycling centre they are as near to 100% Carbon Neutral as you’ll ever get 🎄 Nordman firs are the most popular type of Christmas tree because they retain their needles very well, have glossy, deep green foliage and are an attractive shape 🎄 The needles, which point forward and grow round the branches, are soft and thick with white lines on the underside; the bark is smooth and grey 🎄 They are sourced from members of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association who ensure high environmental standards 🎄 For tips on how to keep your tree in the best condition, visit Care of Christmas Trees on the British Christmas Tree Growers Association website 🎄 Patrick Moore, founder of Greenpeace says, I often say that one way to protect the environment is to choose renewable materials and energy wherever possible. Artificial trees are made from non-renewable plastics and petroleum-based products. Although some people claim that these trees last a lifetime, most are thrown away within nine years – and remain in landfill sites for centuries 🎄 Roger Hay: British Christmas Tree Growers Association ‘Real Christmas trees are absolutely the solution to environmental sustainability. Absorbing Carbon Dioxide and giving off oxygen during the growing cycle, yet completely recyclable after use, the real tree compares with the artificial tree which is manufactured from plastic and metal on the other side of the world and will lie in a landfill site for 100’s of years. Think of the planet when you buy your tree.’ 🎄#christmas #christmastree andreayoung66And buying from these guys helps the homeless in Scotland ! consciously_veganSound like an awesome company! lesswastelauraBuying a Caring Christmas Tree is simple but has a huge impact. Laura Says...“A lot about being environmental is actually just about taking the time out and thinking, being a bit more prepared and actually once you’ve got the resources and once you’ve figured it out it is super easy.” Archives
